Sri PARASURAMAN SUNDER RAJAN, popularly known as DELHI P.SUNDER RAJAN, hails from a family of Musicians belonging to the Temple town of Kumbakonam in Thanjavoor District. He comes in the lineage of Flute Maestro Brahmasri Sarabha Sastrigal. He is a disciple of Sangeetha Bhushanam Shri.V. Janakiraman. Sri Sunder Rajan started learning violin at the age of six, and gave his maiden performance at the age of eight.
He was recognized as a child prodigy and as a result, All India Radio gave Sri Sunder Rajan, age exemption making him a graded Artiste of All India Radio at the age of thirteen. He has established himself as an artiste of great talent, dedication and creativity. He has performed Solo concerts all over the country and abroad. He is now one of the most sought-after Violinists in the field of Carnatic Music, he plays for all distinguished Musicians. He is very popular with audiences all over the country and abroad, and draws large crowds wherever he performs.
He has performed Solo concerts in prestigious festivals of All India Radio, such as the Radio Sangeet Sammelan. He has participated in the National program of All India Radio and Doordarshan, and a special festival of AIR, commemorating 50 years of Indian independence. He is featured regularly in the programs of All India Radio and Doordarshan and many popular satellite TV channels.
Sri Sunder Rajan's skill on Violin has been acclaimed by many leading Music Critics in the country. He was given rave reviews in very popular News papers such as The Hindu, Indian Express,Times of India,Hindustan times,The Statesman etc., and Tamil magazines and News papers like Idhayam Pesugirathu, Ananda Vikatan, Dinamani, Dinamalar etc.
Additionally, Sri Sunder Rajan has the rare distinction of winning the Madras Music Academy's prestigious award as the best accompanying violinist for three years in succession.
Sri Sunder Rajan has been featured in many Audio Cassettes and CDs released by leading Companies like HMV, Music today, AVM, and Magnasound.
Sri Sunder Rajan is also a talented Vocalist, having performed all over India and USA.
As a much sought-after guru, Sri Sunder Rajan is imparting training to a large number of students in the art of Violin playing and vocal music. Many of his students are featured in concerts arranged by various reputed organizations in the country and abroad. He connects very well with his students, and challenges them according to their ability to bring out the best in them.
Sri Sunder Rajan is currently working on a Ph.D on the art of Violin, from Annamalai University , one of the leading universities in India.
Shalini Namuduri has been initiated into Carnatic music by her mother, Smt. Savitha Namuduri at the tender age of 4. After initial training for 8 years, she came under the tutelage of Delhi P. Sunder Rajan for carnatic violin music and has been receiving advanced training in vocal music. She has been placed in many competitions such as Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana, Saptami, Carnatic Idol USA and Sangeeth Samrat. In addition to Carnatic music, Shalini is also trained in Western violin, most recently unde rthe guidance of Mr. Ronald Houston. She was part of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (GDYO) for 8 years, a four time all-stater and has placed in competitions in Dallas area. She is a recent graduate of Independence High School and will be attending UC Berkeley starting this fall.
She is blessed to have been under the tutelage of Sri Delhi P. Sunder Rajan and is incredibly indebted to the Senior Vidwans supporing her on stage today.
Hailing from a family of music connoisseurs at Neyveli, Sri Narayanan was initiated into the art of Mrudangam playing at the young age of seven, under the guidance of Sri S.K. Ganesa Pillai. He made his debut at the age of 11. Further, an intensive training under the Maestro Late Thanjavur Sri Upendran and “PadmaVibhushan” Umayalpuram Sri. K Sivaraman brought about a great amount of professionalism in Sri Narayanan's playing. Sri Neyveli Narayanan is an A-TOP grade artist of All India Radio.
Sri Narayanan is a post graduate in rhythmology from Madras University. He has accompanied almost all the veterans and present day stars of carnatic music. He had the privilege of sharing the stage with the Grammy Award winner, Tabla Wizard Maestro Zahir Hussain with Violin maestros Sri Ganesh Kumaresh.
Sri Narayanan has performed in all the leading sabhas in India. He has also won acclaim in other countries like USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Dubai, Muscat, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Malaysia and Hongkong.
He has received several awards and titles from various sabhas. To name a few, NAADA OLI, VANI KALA SUDHAKARA, LAYA VADYA CHATHURA. He is most blessed to be the ASTHANA VIDWAN of KANCHI KAMAKOTI PEETAM. Shalini is incredibly blessed to have his guidance on stage during her arangetram.
Shalini is very blessed to be accompanied by Vidwan, Sri Prasad Mantraratnam, on the violin. Sri Prasad, from Huntsville, AL, is originally from Warangal, Andhra Pradesh in India. He is the disciple of Sri Akella Mallikarjuna Sarma, a leading violinist in Andhra Pradesh. Prasad has been performing violin both as a Soloist & Accompanist since 1989. He has performed at several sabhas and organizations widely within India and abroad as well as in All India Radio & TV, both as a soloist and accompanist. He has provided violin accompaniment for senior musicians like his Guru Sri AkellaMallikarjuna Sarma, Chitraveena Ravikiran, Sr K.J.Yesudas, Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana, Hyderabad Brothers (Raghavachary &Seshachary), R.K.Srikantan, M.S. Sheela, Prapancham Sitaram, Sankaran Nambuthiry, and several others. He has also provided violin accompaniment for many Hindustani concerts, a few of them include Sangeetha Bandhopadhya, Anoop Barua, Arijit Mahalanabis, Preetham Bhattacharya and many more. Prasad has received scholarship from Indian HRD ministry in 1991 for advanced learning in Violin, which was awarded to about 8 persons in the field of Music. Prasad worked at ISRO satellite center, Bangalore, India for about 4 years and then joined Intergraph India (Hyderabad) where he worked for about 11 years before moving to Intergraph Corporation Headquarters at Huntsville AL in March 2008. Academically, Prasad has a Mechanical Engineering degree from JNTU Hyderabad and a Masters degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute Of Technology, Chicago.
Shalini will be accompanied on the ghatam by Sri Sri Sreenivas Ponnappan. Sri Sreenivas commenced his musical career in Mridhangam at the young age of seven under his guru Vidwan Chandrasekharan. Sreenivas later took advance training from Ghatam Vidwan V Suresh.
Sreenivas has now over two decades of skillful accompaniment for leading senior vocal and instrumental artistes, and for Arangetrams. Sreenivas regularly performs during Chennai music season. Sri Sreenivas currently resides in Atlanta and is a computer architect by profession. Shalini is blessed to have Sri Sreenivas Ponnappan's support.
Last but not least, Kum. Ananya Karthik will be playing Tambura for Shalini. Ananya has been a music student for nearly 10 years. She is currently learning music from Smt. Savitha Namuduri for the past six years. She thoroughly enjoys learning Carnatic music, and considers it as her favorite fine art. Ananya is a ninth grader at Flower Mound High School. In her free time, she likes to play tennis, sing, and draw. She wishes to continue and grow as a musician in the coming years.
